Suso VPS & Virtualization Services

A virtual private server (VPS) is relatively new technology in the area of Internet services. It allows you to have your own server with full privileged access, without the cost of dedicated hardware. This is accomplished using special software that divides up and isolates the resources of a physical server into many parts. Each client gets their own memory, disk space and operating system that is separate from others on the host. This is a popular service for people who need the flexibility of having your own server for running your own applications, but want to keep their costs low. Virtualization also eases many administration tasks such as expanding disk and memory, backups, migrating to a new host and disaster recovery.

Suso has been involved with Virtualization since 2005, when Xen based virtualization started appearing on the scene. Since then we have developed our own tools and techniques around the Xen platform to make your experience even more positive. Your server will come with partitions utilizing Logical Volume Management (LVM) technology, which allows you to dynamically adjust the size of your partitions to suit your needs. This also makes adding additional disks to your VM easier as you can just grow your partitions over to the new disk. It only takes about 5 minutes to add more space.

Distributions of Linux available on VPS servers

  • CentOS 5
  • Debian
  • Ubuntu 9.04
  • Ubuntu 8.04 LTS
  • Gentoo

By default all partitions come with the bare minimum of packages so that your VM is not cluttered with unneeded software. We also have some pre-made VPS images ready with popular configurations such as webservers, database servers, mail servers and so on. Just ask us about it.
